The Journey of The Green Legacy
In my quest to discover as much as possible about my family history, I became more and more determined to breathe life back into the generations that came before me. I've utilized many platforms to share my family roots and hopefully this story will assist others in doing something similar. Presently, I’m involved with Kickstarter in order to make the latest part of my dream (a film) a reality.
THE FAMILY TREE
Back in 2012, I received a diagram of a family tree, given to me by my aunt, which reflected my father’s kin. This first tree had few dates so my challenge was to place the individual dates of birth in order. I joined Ancestry.com in order to pull together documents (state census forms, birth and death records, draft cards) to that would verify these dates.
![]()
I first checked on information leading to the males named Green since the last name remained consistent even with marriage. At the top of his life-chart was my great-great grandfather Daniel Green who I found out was born in 1853.
As I picked up information of this relative, a man named Sanders Green kept appearing in the state census information. He lived with Daniel from the time he was young and was more than twenty years older than him. With a bit more effort, I was able to prove that Sanders Green was the father of Daniel, making Sanders my great-great-great grandfather. To my surprise, I had actually tracked down a relative that none of my family knew existed! In addition to this joyful find, I was able to locate most of the birth-death dates so the task of constructing a more up-to-date family tree was a lot closer to completion.
THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
The marriage certificate was in the form of a ledger notation where all parties in attendance signed. These signatures and the stamp of the courthouse that sent me the information proved that the certificate was authentic and the union actually took place.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
I also tracked down my father's first home where he lived as a teenager during the 1930's. He lived with his three brothers, three sisters, mother and father. I've heard numerous stories from family members about this old house but I never visited it. I took for granted that it no longer existed.
On a chance, by using Google Earth, I was able see the actual house, which was still sitting on 4121 Willow Street, in New Orleans. The old two-story building looks as if it is close to being torn down but it stood proudly long enough for me to take a picture of it as a keepsake.
MAKING THE BOOK
In addition to numerous interviews, both in person and on the telephone, I had gathered enough information to construct a true story of five generations of the Green family prior to my being born. The time span was approximately from 1830 through 1950. In order to add extra realism, I searched for general information of the era (such as clothing styles, famous people, natural disasters, etc.).
I came across the slave manifest of a ship named the Baroque Panthian. It had set sail from Richmond, Virginia and landed in New Orleans on March 14, 1843. There were thirty-eight people on the cargo list of which ten were female. All the slaves had full names except for one sixteen-year old individual simply named Judy. ![]()
This lone teenager fascinated me and I decided to build a major role for her in my story.
Soon afterwards, I discovered Creole in a Red Headdress, ca. 1840, which was painted in New Orleans by Jacques Lucien Arman. The alluring gaze of this unidentified woman inspired me to keep her image in mind as I wrote my story. She became Judy. On March 14, 1843, Judy’s world-wind adventures began as her cargo ship arrived at that bustling dock in New Orleans. This is also how the story ofThe Green Legacy begins.
Book to Film![]()
During 2017, I began doing library sessions on "Writing a Factual and Entertaining Family History." During each session, there is a discussion on how to effectively build a factual family history. Afterwards, techniques on how to combine the history with an entertaining story, in order to draw the interest of family members and many others, are discussed. The review also covers the interviewing process, document searches and storyline evolution that can produce a personal and entertaining family history narrative. The Green Legacy is used as example of how this can be done.
MAKING THE FILM
The need to create a film sprung from those who enjoyed the book and would then say, "The characters seemed so real. When is the movie coming out?" I'd never done a script before so I obtained a program, which would convert my writings to the proper format. I then wrote the script for the two-minute introductory video, which my team and I excitedly completed in a few days. Making a movie costs money, which is why I decided to create a Kickstarter campaign. I plan on doing monthly updates about the progress of the film in order to keep supporters and all others interested, in the loop. As always, I plan to keep family alive.
Hope to see you all at the screening.

FLESHLINGS
![]()
Terry Miller takes you on a creepy walk back to and from the graveyard. These stories/poems are colorfully descriptive the reader can easily understand what it means to return from the soil. One of my favorites are an excerpt from "The Withering Woman."
"My own flesh was rotting, my vanity withered. Bugs came crawling and the worms, they did slither. A frigid, boney hand soon crept into my own. We rested there quiet until bone was on bone." Overall, a very satisfying read but many of the works are very short. Terry Miller, I want to read more of your work. Five out of Five stars. General - A dark new voice has emerged with poetic tales of demonic succubi, ghosts, and all the things that slither in your dreams waiting to break through to your waking hours. Terry Miller's "Fleshlings" explores the darkness with vivid clarity. Whether it's the things that lurk in the shadows, the horrors of despair, or the underlying madness of the human psyche, Miller delivers. ![]()
Thanks to Stephon Alexander dumbing down many of the explanations and theories, I was able to get through this fascinating book and its explanations. Professor Alexander does an excellent job in his descriptions of physics but I didn't quite understand the connection to music. Excellent read regardless.
THE JAZZ OF PHYSICS![]()
Following the great minds that first drew the links between music and physics—a list including Pythagoras, Kepler, Newton, Einstein, and Rakim--The Jazz of Physics revisits the ancient realm where music, physics, and the cosmos were one. This cosmological journey accompanies Alexander’s own tale of struggling to reconcile his passion for music and physics, from taking music lessons as a boy in the Bronx to studying theoretical physics at Imperial College, London’s inner sanctum of string theory. Playing the saxophone and improvising with equations, Alexander uncovered the connection between the fundamental waves that make up sound and the fundamental waves that make up everything else. As he reveals, the ancient poetic idea of the “music of the spheres,” taken seriously, clarifies confounding issues in physics.
Whether you are more familiar with Brian Greene or Brian Eno, John Coltrane or John Wheeler, the Five Percent Nation or why the universe is less than five percent visible, there is a new discovery on every page. Covering the entire history of the universe from its birth to its fate, its structure on the smallest and largest scales, The Jazz of Physics will fascinate and inspire anyone interested in the mysteries of our universe, music, and life itself. An excerpt from:
Chapter 25 - The Subway Ride -Lust ...As we were walking towards 46th Street, I could see that the Globe Theater was playing the sex-comedy Cry Uncle. I asked Regan if she was game to see this movie about a detective who gets into all kinds of trouble. She gave her silly chuckling laugh and said. “Why not?” We entered and found seats about in the middle of the auditorium. The movie was already in progress but that did not seem to matter. No, this was not one of those jerk-off theaters, but we still got looks from some guys because the subject matter of the movie drew a mostly male crowd. We sat quietly, laughed at times and basically enjoyed this movie and the just as graphic second feature that played with it for the next hour and a half. As we left the theater, we both knew that Mr. Polite would make certain that she got home okay. But this mister had his mind in the gutter and I asked Regan if she was interested in seeing my apartment. She acted shocked that I had one. When we broke up, I was still living with my parents. I felt that she must have heard that I had my own place through her sister and Aaron, but who knows. I told her that a lot of things had changed and she agreed. We walked over to the local “C” train on 50th Street and took it up to 125th Street. I’d grown pretty proud of my little apartment on 129th Street. Regan and I spoke for a while in the living room and she marveled at the paint choices and mirrored panels I had put up. Of course, when we were tired, the natural place to move to was the bedroom. It was pretty obvious that regardless of all our small talk, sparring and trying to make a good impression with each other, never completing the act was interfering with our conversations. Regan borrowed a pair of my pajamas and we lay down for the night...

Every generation has a tale to tell but even true stories change with time. Documenting those precious details is one way to pull together family history but why shouldn’t that special narrative be really memorable?
During the session, the author will first discuss how to effectively build a factual family history. Afterwards, techniques on how to combine the history with an entertaining story, in order to draw the interest of family members and many others, will be discussed. The review will cover the interviewing process, document searches and storyline evolution that can produce a personal and entertaining family history narrative. Lloyd A. Green, published author, will utilize his book, The Green Legacy, as an example for the session. The book is not only an exploration into the writer's family history; it’s also an exciting paranormal mystery.

Overall, the outline for all of the chapters has been sorted out. Time to put more meat on the bones of the story has passed. I’m trying not to write too much but I’ve come to terms with having to chop the head off of some ideas. Everything written will support the premise of the chapters. Now, your help in picking an an eye-catching cover is paramount.

IT is an earlier work by Stephen King that guarantees to scare you long pass bedtime. Seven children in Derry, Maine have figured out why there is so much evil and so many deaths in their small town. Through their innocence, they find a way they can combat it. King moves you through thirty years of compelling storylines and characters, which eventually moves the children into adulthood for the fight of their lives. I listened to the Audible edition of this tale, which is almost 45 hours long (the paperback is 1,116 pages). Don’t clown around with this one unless you are willing to carve out a good chunk of your time to enjoy it. The read is worth it.
The 1990 made-for-TV version of the movie captured some of the books scary scenes but fell flat when attempting to clearly define the relationships between the children and their families. There is a theatrical version set to premiere on September 2017. Hopefully, this film will better capture the edgy childhood reflections and the deadlight terror, which are the staple of Stephen King’s IT.
Enjoy

The outline for all of the chapters has been sorted out. Time to put more meat on the bones of the story. I’m trying not to write too much but I’ve come to terms with having to chop the head off of some ideas. Not everything written will support the premise of the chapters. The important thing is to first get it all down on paper (or in the computer).
Revisiting the area of my old school (High School of Music & Art, which in the book is the Dimensional Arts High School) is always a thrill. The surrounding college (City College of N.Y.) and the inhabitants of the neighborhood are playing a much larger role this time around.
The ghostly entities have returned and are playing a more essential part in the story. I didn’t know how complex the historical belief in ghosts was until I began to write this second book and I've dealt with this subject matter extensively on my EndlessPerceptions.com website. Fear of the unknown, tends to make us pay more attention to our surroundings. That's a good thing, right? I mean, what’s the worst that could happen anyway?
